Convection; that is, the transfer of heat from one place to another through the movement of fluids or gases. How is heat transferred in solids? Conduction; that is, heat being transferred from a heated solid to an unheated solid. Most liquids are poor conductors of heat. Conduction is the one of three types of heat transfer in which thermal energy transfers from one point to another through the interaction between the atoms or molecules of the matter. Currently I should simulate the heat conduction through the pulverised materials (like sand) in CFX. Conduction occurs mainly in solids. Conduction and Convection Conduction is most important in Solids. And Jaeger, J.C., Conduction of Heat in Solids, 2nd ed., Clarendon Press, Oxford, England, section 3.3, p. Houses lose a lot of heat through their windows even when they're shut. All gases are poor conductors of heat. I don´t think it´s a good idea to model it as a continous solid because of the gap between the sand grains.
